No more tracks
7 September 2005
The train tracks that had been cemented to my teeth came off today :) The bottom track had been on since the end of September last year and the top since the beginning of January. I could show you before and after photos, but I don’t think the internet has done anything bad enough to deserve that yet.
Last time I went to the orthodontist, she gave me stupid hooky bits on my top wire – evidently there just wasn’t quite enough metal in my mouth at that point. When I went back today, I requested these be removed in preparation for the (more socially eventful than usual) time I have ahead of me next week. I was offered removal of the whole bang-shoot, or keep the hooks and have an elastic band setup to bring the top right teeth into final alignment. Guess which I chose …
I’ve got to go back next Thursday for my retainer to be fitted and a bit more of the cement to be chipped off. At least the cement is pretty much tooth coloured, so I won’t look too bad until then. Well, no worse than usual anyway. It’s so nice being able to laugh and smile again without the effort of closing my mouth over all the metalwork. Oh, and when I go for curry next week, I don’t need to worry about surreptitiously getting the rice out of my brace – yay!
