7 Days: Day 7 – Four in one

Trying to get around the M25 motorway on Boxing Day is *ahem* difficult, so nowadays we don’t meet up with Mum’s side of the family on Boxing Day itself, but postpone it a day or two until people have got the hell out of our way on the road. So when I realised that we’d be together with my cousin and fellow 7 Days member Russ on the last day of the run, I thought we’d be able to do a cunning all-in-one shot. As luck would have it Mum and Dad gave me a new remote for my camera for Christmas, which served to make the photo shoot with me, Dad, John and Russ that much more manic. Hearing four shutters firing at you repeatedly is pretty funny – and of course it helps if the rest of the family are lined up around the room laughing at you too.

7 Days: Day 6 – In the dark

It’s strange how it’s often the shots where I’m scrambling around late in the evening, trying to take something, despite the conspicuous lack of inspiration, that often turn out to be some of my favourites.

7 Days: Day 5 – Boxing Day sandwich

Time to begin on the leftovers. I made myself a yummy sandwich with turkey, chutney, stuffing, and grated parmesan. Sure, putting stuffing in a sandwich is akin to filling a sandwich with more bread, but I think all the chewing is worth it!

I’ve loaded the new design for Dreamdust, so refresh your browser if everything still looks the same to you. I still might be tweaking bits and bobs for a while, but this will do for now! Please let me know if you find something wonky.

7 Days: Day 4 – Christmas

A very good day full of fun, family and food and of course lots of presents all over the place. I hope that tomorrow will bring a bit of a lie-in, some sitting still, a new look for Dreamdust and generally doing whatever I feel like doing. There are magazines and books that need reading, websites that need playing with, scarves that need knitting, and even more food that needs eating – which is appropriate really, as the theme for 7 Days tomorrow is “food”.

7 Days: Day 3 – Christmas Eve

The Suzy arrived to deliver presents for Christmas and I took the opportunity to involve her in my self-portrait for today. She then took the opportunity to break my chair. I forgive her and Dad’s mending it with something that smells funny. I’ve made gingerbread biscuits today as well as a ginger cake. I also had a glass of ginger beer earlier. Apparently in this house we celebrate Christmas by rolling around in ginger.

7 Days: Day 2 – Gold

Gold. Getting this photo done was one of the first things I did today. I came up with “gold” as the first theme, Lauren was responsible for “food” (*cough*, no comment). I knew that this angel would be coming down from on high (the loft) and when I decorated the tree I tucked her away out of immediate sight so as to make my cunning and guile seem just that little bit more cunning and guileful when I published my photo today.

However, I knew that it was also perfectly possible that I wouldn’t be able to get the shot I wanted, hence the early start: I’d need the rest of the day to come up with something else. Fortunately luck (and, of course, enormous skill and brilliance) was on my side and it worked. Once I worked out that in order for the camera to see my reflection in the angel, I needed to be able to see the camera reflected from where I was standing, I was away. Much of the rest of the day was given over to tackling the bomb sites that were a couple of drawers and my wooden chest in the spare bedroom. They were all filled with craft stuff and a whole load of crap that I’d hoarded thinking it might be useful one day. They now contain a little less crap that I think might be useful one day.

7 Days: Day 1 – Austrian slippers

And so 7 Days begins. As does my Christmas break. My shopping is done and I’ve spent much of the day making clever bird-feeding devices. Mum and Dad are out. I like to think that they’re buying me hundreds and thousands of presents. Though truth be told I haven’t come up with much of a list this year, so maybe they’re just buying me hundreds and thousands.
