Pizza, salt dough and seaweed

8 January 2008

I took the train to Bromley to see Lauren on Sunday. As mentioned before, Domino’s pizza don’t deliver to my postcode, although they have a branch 10 minutes away. So, in order to take advantage of home delivery, I was driven to a station, got on a train, walked up a hill and waited in a different house for my food. It made sense to us.

Of course there was time for a lot of nattering and we discovered that we have quite similar intentions for 2008. Not exactly the same, because of course Lauren intends to get married this year. I don’t intend to get married this year – because clearly I wouldn’t be able to book the open-top carriage I desire at such short notice.

I want to see if I can get a little income from my craftiness. Whether I can perhaps do something with the ideas floating around my head, whether I can put these ideas into action before suddenly we’re in 2009. Salt dough, knitting, photography, those kind of things.

I also intend to keep an eye on my weight. I’ve never been fat, though my already muscly thighs do like to keep hold of whatever food I consume and store it there in the lumpiest way possible. However, I’ve started taking this blooming medication again and one side effect is that it can lead to water retention. I can see it in older photos of myself that my face was a bit puffy and I really don’t want that again. Maybe it won’t happen this time, but nonetheless I’ll be doing what I can to fight it off. This combines nicely with another intention to spend more on myself at the beauty salon (isn’t there another name for this kind of establishment, it sounds so nancy). I’m off this morning for some kind of seaweed wrap thing. Should be exciting! And with any luck it might undo all that pizza I ate on Sunday.
