CDWM: Helen’s main course

Our Come Dine With Me evenings tend to last a bit longer than the times we go to restaurants. This is one of the aspects I rather enjoy – there’s even more time to talk and time to properly digest each course before the next is served.

While Helen thoroughly steamed herself in the kitchen putting together the chicken and mushroom en croute the Eurovision Song Contest continued to entertain us. Indeed, our quiz work was not yet over as we had to rank the countries and try to predict the results of the competition. A country correctly placed would score us a point. And after the flag debacle I was going to need a few more points.

Suzy-no-mates

Greece was a firm favourite with us, not least because it was easy to sing along by just shouting “Opa!” now and again. They put on a good show too, but the shouting was most important. Another bonus of eating at home, you see: no-one asks you to leave, because the other guests are alarmed by your dancing between courses.

Chicken and mushroom en croute

The main course was beautiful: chicken and mushroom en croute and mustard sauce with seasonal vegetables. Our judgement with Eurovision accompaniment:
