7 Days: Day 1 – The wall
18 September 2010
The painting in the den was finished a week ago, but I wanted to save revealing the colours until 7 Days. Hours and hours of my life have been spent on going back and forth between paint samples, miles paced in the paint aisle at B&Q, but finally I made a decision. Then un-made it and made it again before finally giving up, taking a deep breath and telling the painter which paint he needed to get. And in the end, I got it right. Phew.
Opposite the window I have a hot pink accent wall and the other walls are a very pale pink. The ceiling and coving are white. The decorators also finished off my steps, varnishing the treads, painting the MDF frame and sticking the treads in place. They look great and work just as I wanted.
I’m still waiting for my carpet to arrive, so not much furniture construction can be done yet, but Dad and I have put together the two cupboards that sit atop my steps. I’ve already moved a number of books from downstairs into the shelves – there’s a Laura Ingalls Wilder section and a Harry Potter section -, but there’s nothing in the cupboards yet. There’s a whole lot of sorting out and going through all the stuff I hoard yet to come.

It looks utterly, utterly fabulous, I love it. Also, you have a Laura Ingalls Wilder section? I’ve recently been craving to read these again and you’ve just reminded me to get proper, vintage copies as I somehow lost mine along the way. Also, great pic at the top, hugely stylish, worthy of a glossy interiors mag.
